12-18 x 3.5-5.5 cm; deciduous; lanceolate; apex acuminate aristate; base mostly rounded, or slightly cordate; hairless above; hairless beneath except axil tufts and hairs on midrib; margin cartilaginous, slightly revolute, wavy, superficially dentate with bristle-tips to 4-8 mm long, sinuses rounded; 10-12 pairs of lateral veins slightly impressed above, raised abaxially, at an angle of 40° with the midrib; petiole depressed, 1-2.2 cm long;
Flowers
female catkin 6-8 cm long, bearing 2 flowers; stigmas very long;
Fruits
acorn maturing in 2 years; cup rounded, with tomentose, oval, appressed scales;
