acorn 1.7-2 cm long, 1.5 cm wide, ellipsoid; hairless; enclosed 1/2 by cup; cup 1-1.5 cm long, 1.2 cm in diameter, thin (less than 1 mm), greyish velutinous inside and outside, with 6-8 concentric rings denticulate; scar flat, 5 mm wide; stylopodium persistent, large, with 3 rings; maturing in 2 years;

Additional Information
– Sub-genus Cerris, Section Cyclobalanopsis; – Closely related to the Japanese Q.salicina Bl. (= Cyclobalanopsis salicina (Bl.) Oerst.), said to be present in Taiwan, but plants of Taiwan occur at lower elevations (500 m) than what is typical for the species; they are probably populations of Q.stenophylloides.
