acorn 1.7-2.4 cm long, 0.8-1.5 cm in diameter; obovoid to ellipsoid-obovoid; basal scar narrow, 5-7 mm wide, slightly convex; enclosed 1/3 or 1/2 by cup; cup thin, tomentose, 1-1.5 cm wide, with 5-7 concentric rings of scales; margin of 2 or 3 rings near base denticulate; stylopodium persistent; maturing in 1 year in October-November;
