13-25 x 3-7 cm; evergreen; broadly oblanceolate or elliptic-obanceolate; thin, papery; apex acuminate to acute; base cuneate; margin entire, apicaly minutely serrate; hairless, shiny above; hairless, glaucous, waxy beneath; young leaves have a yellowish tomentum ; 9-15 vein pairs straight, parallel, prominent beneath only, at an angle of 30° with midrib; petiole glabrous 1.5-3.5 cm long;

male catkins drooping, fulvous tomentose; pistillate inflorescences 2-6 cm long, bearing 2 or 3 flowers with 4-6 styles 3.5 cm long, bifid and divaricate;
Fruits
acorn 3.5 cm long, 1.5 cm across, oblong-ellipsoid; apex depressed, hairy and mucronate; basal scar 1.5 cm wide, convex; stylopodium persistent; enclosed 1/2 to 1/3 by cup; cup thin, brown tomentose, sessile, with 6-7 concentric rings of scales, the lower with margin denticulate; maturing in 1 year;
