March to May; male flowers with lobes of perianth hairy only on margin; female flowers with enlarged stigmas;

acorn ovoid to ovoid-ellipsoid, 1.2 cm long, 0.9 cm wide; cup thin, enclosing 1/3 of nut, 8-9 mm long, 10-12 mm wide, greyish brown tomentose outside, with 6-8 concentric rings denticulate at rim; scar convex; stylopodium persistent, short; maturing in 1 year from September to November;
