Lebanon (Natural Reserve of Ehden); 1300-1900 m;

6-12 x 3.2-6.5 cm; round-oval to oblong lanceolate; tomentose adaxially; margin with deep, narrow sinuses and sinuate, acuminate, linear lobes; petiole thin, stellate hairy, 1.5-2.7 cm long.

at the axil of terminal leaves; inflorescences in racemes bearing 2-6 flowers.

acorns on 1.5-5 cm long, thick, tomentose peduncles ; cup halfround, with greyish, densely tomentose, linear-lanceolate scales;

– thrives better in humid places;

– Species endemic to Lebanon; it was treated in different ways according to Authors; first considered as a synonym of Q. lanuginosa Willd. var. pinnatifida Gmelin, then as a probable hybrid between Q. cerris and Q. pubescens (Govaerts & Frodin 1998), and other treatments that are just as unsatisfactory, this species is today placed by the Lebanese Authors (J. Stephan, P. Teeny 2017) as a true species, closely related to Q. pubescens but differing from it in the habitat in more humid zones, the cups and above all the leaves;
