10-15 x 2.5-5 cm; leathery; elliptic lanceolate or oblong-lanceolate; crowded at end of twigs; apex acuminate oblique; base cuneate; both sides shiny, hairless, paler beneath; margin entire with a few short teeth near apex; 10-14 pairs of prominent secondary veins, at an angle of 50° with midrib; petiole 1-1.5 cm long, sulcate above, tomentose;

female flowers 2-3 with 4-6 styles, on a 5 cm long catkin;

acorn 1.2-1.5 cm tall, 2 cm in diameter; base truncate; apex shortly and thickly mucronate; short, thick stalk; enclosed 3/4 by cup; cup 3-4 cm in diameter, flattened, with 4-7 densely yellowish tomentose rings; maturing in 2 years,

not hardy; tropical forests;
