acorn ellipsoid to ovoid-ellipsoid, 1.5-2.2 cm long, 1-1.2 cm wide; yellowish brown tomentose near apex; enclosed 1/3 by cup; cup 6-8 mm long, 10-12 mm wide, yellowish grey velutinous outside, with (5-)7-8 concentric rings crenate-dentate, except the 2 or 3 apical ones that are entire ; scar 5 mm wide, slightly convex; stylopodium persistent, with 4-5 rings; maturing in 1 year;
