Leaves

15-20 cm long, 5-8 cm wide; evergreen; very thick, leathery; oval or oval-lanceolate ; attenuate, acuminate at apex; base asymmetrical, rounded; 2/3 of margin coarsely toothed; both sides glabrous; bright above, dull below; ; 8-11 vein pairs impressed adaxially, at an angle of 45° with midrib ; all veins sunken adaxially; petiole thick, glabrous, 2 cm long;

Flowers

3-5 styles lightly connate at base; big, thick stigmas;

Fruits

acorn flattened, 2.3 cm in diameter, 1.8 cm high, with apex depressed and ringed mucro, basal scar depressed; several on a 1-2 cm long peduncle; enclosed 1/3 in cupule; cup 2.5 cm in diameter, flattened, tomentose, with 8-9 concentric rings wavy-dentate at margin; maturing in 2 years;
